Birds is a new single from Russian composer Alex Tiuniaev. The track effortlessly combines post-classical sensibilities with instrumental, electronic, pop. It's good to see Alex tackle other genres as he's most well known for his ambient and post classical works. Birds is a playful piece. Melodic synths and drum machines dance along side bright, polish sound design. The b-side is a scratchy, downtempo remix by Ford Madox Ford who introduces an effects laden vocal loop into the re-imagined track.

Tomika is the music Tom Streller from Leipzig. He combines, electronics, indie pop vocals, chamber pop structure, and a flare of the imagination. His debut EP under Tomika is an extremely mature release. You can tell that Tom has complete control over all of this production techniques and instruments. Pathos Interlude is a short song based around string instruments. Fall In Springtime shares some similarities with Tunng. The Triumph Of Our Tired Eyes starts with a field recording of a...

Ancient Lasers is mainly Daniel Finfer (Post Human Era). Ancient Lasers is music for fans of Nine Inch Nails, Foo Fighters, Aphex Twin, M83, The Faint, and Bright Eyes. Vocally, it shifts between a muscular Ben Gibbard and grunts worth of Trent Reznor’s macho swagger. From these juxtaposed elements, Ancient Lasers frontman, Daniel Finfer, finds a cohesive lyrical blend of futurist/transhuman/post human paranoia and optimism. If you're at all familiar with Daniel's project 'Post Human Era'...

Marco Cervellin, the force behind Wacky Southern Current, returns with his third album on No-Source. Argonautica continues the trend of high quality instrumental albums from Marco. To give Wacky Southern Current one genre is to sell the music short. A wide range of influences fill up each release from Marco. Argonautica is no exception. This is a more guitar-centric album with Kraut influences, particularly on the track "We Are Argonauts." "French Radio" is a short burst of...

It's great to welcome back Tardiss to No-Source with their brand new album, "Thisistar." This album picks up where "Blue" left off, further refining their sound into something that full bridges lo-fi indietronic and hi-fi IDM. The album kicks off with the over nine minute sprawling epic "Willbury Road." Downtempo beats are the center stage for this album. Long rhythmic grooves intersect with short interludes before fading out in the last few minutes of the album...

Proiekt Massage was a short lived project from 2002 - 2003. The Slovenian band consisted of Yoshi (kruh), Samo (Automassage), and Rok (Neuf Meuf, Automassage, kruh). Rho return to No-Source Netlabel with their first batch of new material since 2010's album, 'Cedarleaf.' 'Brace For Gravity' is a brilliant, concise, and calculated release. It showcases the two distinct sides of Rho. One side is their quiet, ambient, acoustic side. Guitars tremble slowly through seas of effects in many of the shorter songs on this album. The other half of Rho is the sprawling, progressive, beat oriented instrumentals. In these pieces, rhythms, synths, and guitar work to take...

Electric Mirrors is an indietronic project from musicians Derek Rutter and Eddie Palmer. They collaborate entirely online, crafting electronic experiments. There is a decidedly Americana element to their laid back vocals and dusty sounding lyrics. The vocals are paired next to instrumentation of the downtempo synthpop variety. The end result on...

No-Source is pleased to re-release a newly re-mastered version of Rho's debut album, "Breathing Through the Liquid System." Similar to their previous No-Source release, "Cedarleaf", this is a very accessible album. It beautifully merges down-tempo electronica with indie and post rock guitar riffs. The album kicks of with the mellow spacial hum of “Demos of Bloomington.” Laid back beats take stage, backed by electric guitars on a summer' drive. Midi Me is that cinematic...

It's difficult to classify "Stay Gold" as an album in the traditional sense. The debut No-Source release from Will Bangs is more so an initial, beautiful spark of a grand experiment than it is the final words to a long mulled over topic. This collection of work (tracks 1 - 9) represents impressive sketches and musical beginnings. As a listener, these short, loop based, instrumental pieces of guitar driven folktronica stand very well on their own. They are quiet, reflective interludes...

The debut, self-titled release from Book of Burrow is a cozy, whimsical snapshot of instrumental folktronica. Similar in style to The Books, Book of Burrow, a collaborative project between Michael Carrier and Morgan Quirk. They build short musical pieces out of sampled instruments, snippets of recording sessions, and electronic clicks. The God Tree opens the album with hi-hat rhythms and glitch filled guitar delay. Hovel is a slow, minimal groove. Judas the Water Shrew showcases Quirk's sweet,...

Tardiss is the musical output of Karl Koopmann and Steve Setzepfandt. Behind the Blind is eleven tracks of emotive, instrumental, electronica. This album comes highly recommended for fan's of Steve's other band, Rho. The sound of Tardiss combines styles well developed by Boards of Canada and M83's early work. The first track Spinner, perfectly lays out the mood of the album. Fuzzy beats take lead as lovely synth work, plucked guitars, and percussive flares wash over them. Drill Bits is synth...

Someday and Shine is the solo project of Galih Kharisma Putra from Indonesia. "Random," recorded in 2010, encompasses themes of loss, separation, and loneliness. Galih writes lyrics around acoustic guitar and lo-fi minimalism. The first track, Hilang, starts off the album with field recordings, effects-laden guitar lines, and lo-fi vocal crackle. Sendiri Padam is mournful, effect-drenched vocals paired with simple low-frequency guitar lines and midrange plucking. The third track,...

Multi-Panel returns with a mini-album companion piece to last year's Train Times For Sway album. Retain Mist is initially more accessible than Train Times and still proudly carries the folktronic flag. The rhythms here are simpler, the melodies catchier. Prepare Rain's soft guitar strums hide under layers of synth blips. Restraint focuses on the minimal as acoustic guitar takes the spotlight, backed by electronic sounds and sparse vocals. Drop It boarders on the trenches of ambient music. The...

Following the release of Full-Source's third album "The Lantern, The Ghost, and The Sea" a remix contest was started to promote and expand upon the sound and themes of the album. A year and many remixes later, a companion album, "Eyes Wide & Empty Hats" enters. This album carries on the toytronic atmosphere with seven songs from the same recording session that produced the The Lantern, The Ghost, and The Sea as well as seven favorable remixes by new artists and No-Source...

This split release features two short EPs by two up and coming musicians. Both releases are wonderful and work well on their own just as they fit together as one. boletes is Roy Gornall of Scotland. boletes' Hunnibug EP floats and crescendos through four tracks of ambient folk. His music conjures a Red House Painters style of other-worldly folk music. Roy captivates the listener in his world with soft guitars, electronic spacial reflections, and soft lyrics of mysticism. The solemn tunes could...

Back To The Rock from Christian McKee encompasses ten songs recorded over the past five years. Cataloging his solo career, this album represents some of McKee's best moments to date. Musical exploration, refinement, and thought-provoking lyrics are key elements of McKee's work. Christian's songs sound oddly familiar upon first listen, with a hybrid of musical styles merging together on each track. Back To The Rock conjures the likes of Bob Dylan, Passion Pit, and David Gray, with Christian...
